Pat testing is the term used for the combined inspection and testing by a competent person of electrical equipment and appliances.
Since 1990 It has been a legal requirement for employers and the self-employed to arrange for all portable electrical appliances and equipment to be periodically tested for compliance with safety regulations
Many venues (for example hotels) now require that DJs and entertainers have PAT test certificates or they will not be permitted to perform.
